Peel Harbour & Castle

On the Western coast of the Isle of Man, Peel is fondly known as 'Sunset City' and is home to the island’s cathedral. It’s the third largest town, but is often considered to be the island’s city. Despite being on the other side of the island, Peel is just twenty minutes by car from the ferry port at Douglas. Beautiful bays and beaches feature in the area alongside the iconic Peel Castle and bustling Manx fishing port with a heritage stretching back centuries. Don't miss a seal watching boat trip from the beautiful harbour. The modern marina is a popular base for pleasure craft particularly during summer season with deepwater berths available.

The House of Manannan Heritage Centre houses a replica Viking longship, and Peel is home to the Leece Museum and the Manx Transportation Museum. Peel stands on the route of the Raad ny Foillan long-distance footpath, a circular 95-mile route around the island. The annual Viking Festival takes place each summer, and offers the chance to watch Viking re-enactments, enjoy stories and take part in battles! Take a trip to the Manx Kipper Factory for a 30 minute factory tour and the opportujity to sample some traditional smoked kippers. Visit Peel from May to August and you're likely to spot numerous huge basking sharks off shore!
