Old postcard of Grove Park

Weston’ beaches and attractions are brilliantly enhanced by its parks and gardens – many with cafes, farm experiences, play barns, falconry displays and other facilities such as shops and crazy golf! A good list can be found on the North Somerset Council website link below:

Community parks such as Ashcombe and Jubilee Park mix alongside more formal parks – such as Beach Lawns, Grove Park and Madeira Cove, the Town Square and Italian Gardens. Combine that with the open spaces to be found in the grounds of tourist attractions, and the beach gardens too, and you've got a lot of outdoors green space to enjoy.

Fun for Children

Puxton Park is a new park, set in 40 acres, and including everything from an adventure park with play barn, rainbow slide, crazy golf, electric tractors, animals to pet, donkeys and ponies to ride, a falconry centre, adventure courses, zorbing on the boating lake, and so much more, as well as the restaurants, miniature railway, farmshop and tons of facilities for a brilliant day out for the younger members of the family. Puxton Park rightly deserves to be one of the South West's top visitor attractions.

Or why not try the Water Adventure Play Park on Knightstone Road, just on the seafront, offering Summer splash pads (fountains and sprays set off by sensors) at the Water park and some great wooden play equipment, sandpit and swings.

More formal parks

These formal parks are wonderful for strolling, sports (cricket, football, tennis, hockey and bowls) and for those of us who adore a well-maintained planting scheme. Ashcombe Park (between Upper Bristol Road and Milton Road), with its tennis courts and zip wire, is also full of wildlife, and is great for dogs. Or try a leisurely stroll round the very formal Italian Gardens with their geometric lines and formalised planting schemes, framed usefully by lots of benches to accommodate the weary visitor.

Many of the larger parks do offer kiosks and cafe facilities during the warmer months too.

Jill's Garden is a special memorial garden, created in 2001 by the BBC's Ground Force team to commemorate the life of Jill Dando who was born in the town. This memorial garden is planted as a sensory garden, with fountain and scented plants. Its atmosphere is calm and serene despite being positioned at the top of the high street area.
