Weston is rightly proud of its wonderful beaches. This traditional seaside town attracts so many with its clean beaches, donkey rides and traditional seaside and fairground fun. The beaches are dotted all over the coastline - from Sand Bay beach in the North at Newstoke, to Berrow Beach in the South (taking in the pier, the main beach, the marine lake, Brean Beach and Berrow Beach. The beaches are not simply great for play and sun-basking, but they are also used for sand sculpture, Weston Enduro Beach Racing (like motocross), past music events such as T4 on the beach, and lots more, with plenty of well maintained facilities to ensure families have the most fantastic, stress-free and restful holiday.
This bay's sandy beach goes on for miles but you could see even further on the Wheel of Weston - a 40 metre high observation wheel with amazing views all the way over to Cardiff across the Severn Estuary. Water sports and wind sports are popular here and an area has been set aside for these. Or why not take a boat trip? Or walk along the sea front to discover all the attractions? Nearby are Knightstone Island, the SeaQuarium, Grand Pier and well-maintained promenade.
Kids will especially love the pier which has been extensively refurbished following a fire in 2008 and is full of bright and colourful places to spend money and have fun! Regularly voted as one of the country's top attractions, it is well worth a visit. Weston's pier is actually more of a theme park, open every day of the year apart from Christmas, and its presence ensures that all-weather fun is guaranteed. Hosting events such as Brownie sleepovers, Party on the Pier, and gigs by The Wurzels and other local bands, incorporating world-class attractions and rides, arcade machines, holdng its own Cider Festival and even hosting weddings, this is a truly amazing facility with gift shops, places to eat and drink, toilets, cash machines and more. Dogs, however (with the exception of guide dogs) are not allowed.
