Kelvingrove from the university tower

Glasgow's West End, and Yorkhill, incorporating the green and incredible Kelvingrove Park with its world-class Museum and Gallery, is a cultural hub for visitors to Glasgow, not only because of the wealth of art, music, and knowledge to be found here, but also because of the sheer beauty and accessibility of the place. A haven for families, the sporty, and the artistic, the parklands, domestic dwellings and stunning architecture combine wonderfully in this city centre district, especially from Park Terrace.

The area is peppered with galleries, quirky shops and delightfully Bohemian coffee shops which encourage relaxation and artistic contemplation. Try Montgomery's on Radnor Street for a great bakery and some of the best coffee in Glasgow, or the Kelvingrove Cafe within the museum.

Inside the Hunterian

Obviously, the Kelvingrove gallery and museum take centre stage for visitors within this park, but the gothic revival style University of Glasgow building also dominates the skyline, and is the location for both the Hunterian Gallery and Museum as well as the university buildings.

This area is full of students from all over the world, which gives it a cosmopolitan, youthful and bustling outlook. Nearby are the Transport Museum and Football Museum, the Quayside and Maritime Centre, theatres a-plenty, cinemas, bars, clubs, meeting places and so much more...
