Weymouth Beach

Weymouth Beach

Traditional seaside resort Weymouth is centrally situated on Dorset's Jurassic Coast and is one of the South Coast's most popular family holiday destinations. The miles of sandy beach flanked by character Georgian buildings is great for family bathing, beach volleyball, fireworks displays and kite flying. The resort has a charming harbour where you can pick up boat trips and ferry services across to the Channel Islands. Classic seaside attractions include a Sea Life Centre and Pirate Adventure Golf along with many indoor and outdoor fun things to do and play areas. Watersports are incredibly popular, particularly sailing. Portland harbour's waters just south of Weymouth are recognised as some of the finest sailing waters in the UK. The harbour hosts many world class sailing events including The Round Britain and Ireland Challenge and the IFDS World Championships.

Things to Do

For family days out, enjoy a trip to the Weymouth Sea Life Park or take a walk around the eight acres of Bennetts Water Gardens. You could also enjoy a Jurassic Safari and head off into the countryside near Weymouth on a guided Land Rover tour or visit Nothe Fort and gardens where you can discover the town's naval history. Hop aboard a boat trip along the Jurassic Coast or a fishing trip from old Weymouth harbour and enjoy a host of watersports activities including sailing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, water skiing and fishing at Portland harbour.

Unique attractions sit right in the centre of Weymouth including Radipole Lake RSPB Nature Reserve with a visitor centre looking out on to open water. Radipole is one of the best spots to see not just common birds like finches and robins, but rare ones too like Cetti's warblers and bitterns. You'll also find Lodmoor RSPB Nature Reserve and Country Park located on the eastern side of the seaside town. Lodmoor includes great family attractions like Sandworld - a sand sculpture park.

Another unique feature in Weymouth is the Sea Life Tower on the seafront. Take a ride up in the viewing capsule 53m (174ft) for magnificent panoramic views of Weymouth Bay, Portland and Dorset's Jurassic Coast. Classic family seaside attractions are numerous. Along the seafront, and around the harbour and centre you'll find soft play areas, a laser zone and slot car racing. The modern town centre is well equipped with a stylish shopping complex, a multiplex cinema, bowling alley and a wide choice of restaurants, inns and nightclubs.
