Exford sits right in the centre of Exmoor National Park and is a well-serviced village with a choice of accommodation options, a post office and a collection of village shops, many of which are also tourist outlets with information guides and maps on the surrounding National Park. If you are looking for the perfect Exmoor horse riding holiday base, then Exford is a good choice with its local stables and nearby Coleridge Bridleway, a 36 mile long bridleway linking the Quantock Hills with Exmoor, running between Nether Stowey and Exford.

Long-distance walking paths in the area including the Exe Valley Way, a 50 mile long walking path from the South West Coast Path on the Exe Estuary coast to Exford. A great way of exploring hidden Exmoor is via a safari land rover tour lasting for over 2 hours. Tours run direct from the village into scenic Exmoor moorland and valleys - look out for Red Deer, buzzards and the famous Exmoor Ponies! A great time to visit is during the early May Simonsbath Festival with arts programme including a range of concerts, events and exhibitions.

Getting here

A spectacular drive through the heart of Exmoor will see you in Exford. The village is only 26 miles from the M5 motorway, off at Junction 25 (signposted Taunton) - driving time is around 3/4 hour to 1 hour. follow the A358 from Tauinton towards Minehead for around 3 miles then take a left on to the B3224.

Carry on for around 10 miles until you reach the Raleighs Cross inn. Pass the pub then take a right onto the B3224 which just changes direction here. Continue for around 6 miles to Wheddon Cross, pass over the crossroads and just follow signs for Exford for about 5 miles.
