North Devon Show at Barton Farm near Umberleigh

Umberleigh village on the banks of the River Taw in North Devon sits within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, in the heart of Devon farming county. The village is just a few miles south of market town Barnstaple and within easy reach of Exmoor National Park, Torrington and Bideford. Umberleigh is the perfect peaceful rural spot to unwind and relax, with spectacular North Devon beaches and coast path walking just a 15 minute drive away. A wealth of award-winning inns and restaurants feature in the local area including The Rising Sun in the village serving fine food and ales with a beer garden flanking the River Taw.

Activities & Attractions

Horse riding, first class golf courses at Chumleigh and Torrington, and cycling along the Tarka Trail are all easily accessed locally, and the Umberleigh area is a popular spot for fishing on the River Taw rich in salmon and sea trout beats. Local inn The Rising Sun runs its own fishing club with day tickets available. The ancient market town of South Molton just east of Umberleigh contains a tourist information centre offering a wealth of information on local attractions, best eateries and walking and cycling routes. Visit the Cobbaton Combat Collection, a military museum displaying an extensive collection of largely World War Two artefacts. Huge tanks, gas masks, uniforms and ration books are all on display and the museum shop offers an opportunity to purchase collector items, souvenirs toys and more.

Umberleigh is conveniently situated near the site of the annual early August North Devon Show at Umberleigh Barton Farm located just to the north of the village along the A377. This is North Devon's premier agricultural show featuring demonstrations and parades of livestock, a dog show and trade stands in a marquee with food hall showcasing the best of North Devon crafts and local produce.
