Great Yarmouth Pier History

Britannia Pier and Wellington Pier have a long seaside history in the resort. The original wooden Britannia Pier first opened in 1858 but was replaced with a wooden and steel pier which opened in 1902. The current fourth pavilion theatre on Britannia Pier dates from 1958 - this one replaced several former pier theatres destroyed by fire. See great historic old photographs of Britannia Pier on the pier's website.
