Garstang Annual Walking Festival

Situated between Lancaster and Preston, Garstang is famed for being the first Fairtrade Town. A peaceful market town along the banks of the River Wyre, Garstang is your perfect gateway into the Forest of Bowland. The Lancaster Canal passes right through the town and a wealth of activities and attractions are in Bowland adjacent from pony trekking to family farms, or spend lazy afternoons in the town's many traditional pubs and friendly cafes.

The town's long established outdoor market takes place every Thursday along Garstang High Street. Garstang has a variety of boutiques and independent shops around its character medieval weinds (passage ways) and a beautiful Millennium Green, perfect for picnics and barbecues in the summer months.

Garstang offers a variety of annual festivals and events worth planning your visit around. There's an annual Walking Festival offering the chance to see the beauty of the surrounding area on foot, and if you visit just before Christmas you'll be able to enjoy the Victorian Christmas Festival complete with live entertainment and a Santa's Grotto. Other events include the Garstang Arts and Music Festival, and the Children's Festival, both popular choices for great days out.
