How Stean Gorge

Stay in a Pateley Bridge farm B&B or holiday cottage with easy access into the Yorkshire Dales National Park and spa town Harrogate. Capital of beautiful Nidderdale - an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, small market town Pateley Bridge is home to the Nidderdale Museum and sits alongside the circular Nidderdale Way which takes in the stunning landscapes of the Nidd Valley. The town features a choice of fine restaurants, inns and charming tea rooms.

The Nidderdale Museum

Discover the history of day to day life in Nidderdale at the interactive family friendly Nidderdale Museum. Themed rooms focus on leisure, industry, religion, costume and agricultural history in this former workhouse giving an insight into everything from Victorian shops to schools and education facilities of the past. Take a step back in time and tour the Victorian parlour, school room and exhibitions on mining, transport and World War II as experienced in Nidderdale. The museum also features a selection of 19th and early 20th Century costumes and an original cobbler's shop. The Nidderdale Museum is open all year round. Children accompanied by an adult have free entry.

The Nidderdale Way & Walking Festival

The perfect market town gateway into the Yorkshire Dales, Pateley Bridge is a 'Walkers are Welcome' town, and an ideal base for walking and leisurely activity breaks. The town sits either at the start or finish of the 53 mile circular Nidderdale Way walk also popular with cyclists. The trail pushes through the Upper, Middle and Lower Valley of the Nidd.

The Upper Valley area, fondly referred to as 'Little Switzerland' by the Victorians, features famous beauty spots such as limestone gorge How Stean Gorge whilst the Middle Valley area is home to Brimham Rocks. Popular attractions en-route include Ripley Castle in the Lower Valley with stunning gardens designed by 'Capability Brown'. Llama trekking, climbing and a choice of idyllic pathways all feature in Nidderdale, offering a choice of relaxing and challenging outdoor activities.

A great time to visit is during the late September four day Pateley Bridge Walking Festival with a variety of guided walks featuring on the programme ranging from gentle walks taking in ancient Nidderdale views to challenging hikes up into surrounding open moorland.

Pateley Bridge Show

Pateley Bridge Show is one of the Yorkshire Dales' most celebrated agricultural shows, also known as the Nidderdale Show. Located at Bewerley Park in Pateley Bridge, the annual Nidderdale Show is held every September and includes everything from livestock shows to trade stalls, heritage marquees, dog shows, handicrafts and more.
