Seal at Scarborough Sea Life Centre

Scarborough is packed with first class family seaside attractions from the award-winning Sea Life Marine Sanctuary to adventure theme parks, activity centres and a mini railway. Get active at The Military Adventure Park in the heart of Scarborough, a fun attraction ideal for families and stag and hen parties with laser combat, tank driving, an assault course and more all available. Classic favourites include the North Bay Railway which has entertained visitors to Scarborough since 1931 on its 3/4 mile route from Peasholm Park to Scalby Mills stations via Scarborough's spectacular North Bay beach.

Peasholm Park with central garden island and boating lake sits just inland from North Bay and hosts regular free concerts, events, the spectacular mock Navel Warfare battles plus a choice of trails and summer season cafes. See quirky Scarborough attractions like 'Hairy Bob's Cave at the foot of Scarborough Castle - a strange small piece of rock carved into the shape of what appears to be a house! The great thing about Scarborough holidays is they also offer easy access to a range of attractions in the neighbouring North York Moors National Park from cycling and a Go Ape activity centre at nearby Dalby Forest to family farm parks, steam railways and a guaranteed fun family day out at Flamingo Land theme park just west of Scarborough.

North Bay Railway

One of the oldest miniature railways in Britain, North Bay Railway is a 20 inch gauge railway beginning at beautiful Peasholm Park on its 3/4 route through pretty parkland, passing en-route the Scarborough Open Air Theatre and North Bay, culminating at Scalby Mills next to beaches and the Sea Life Centre.

A package of historic and fun family attractions are included in the North Bay Railway experience including one of only three historic water chutes in the UK, pedal boat hire on the lake within Northstead Manor Gardens and Water Walkers. Refreshments are available at the award-winning Glass House Bistro at Peasholm Park Station and en-route at the Scampi Shack serving best Whitby seafood and in Yorkshire's smallest pub - the Boatmans Tavern.

Sealife Sanctuary

Sealife Sanctuary at North Bay has long been a family favourite attraction housed within three distinct triangular buildings on the resort's main headland and featuring a mix of indoor and outdoor marine exhibits. See seals, penguins, otters and more and this hands-on interactive underwater world. There's plenty of opportunity for rock pooling and a host of year round children's activities and events. More than 50 marine life displays are on offer and fun activities including adventure mini golf are on-site.

Scarborough Open Air Theatre

Scarborough's vast open air theatre is located within Northstead Manor Gardens in the North Bay area and offers a packed programme of concerts featuring some of the biggest names in pop music. Ranked as the largest open air theatre in Europe, the venue is impressive and has a rich history as a natural amphitheatre dating back to the 1930s. A host of food and drink outlets are on-site alongside ample parking and merchandise stalls

Peasholm Park Attractions

Peasholm Park located just inland from North Bay is the resort's beautifully restored historic park which first opened as a pleasure fun park in June 1912. The perfect blend of heritage gardens and fun family attractions, the park has a central island with gardens and surrounding boating lake at its heart. On-site attractions include a Tree Trail, Lily Pond and Oriental style gardens. Not to be missed at designated times of the year are the Naval Warfare battles on the lake with battle ships firing pot shots at each other - fondly known for many years as the 'Battle of Peasholm'.

Go boating on Peasholm Park boating lake. Hire boats include a choice of rowing boats, canoes and quirky pedal boats with dragon heads all available. The park also features a bandstand on the island hosting regular free music concerts and cafes are open across the summer season. A natural glen and stream are integrated into the design of the park and a choice of delightful trails and footpaths criss-cross the park, taking in the oriental style gardens with unusually exotic flowers and trees. Children will loved the carved squirrel and dragon figures! Pealsholm Park is free to enter, open daily, seven days a week.
