Guests are warmly welcomed with tea, coffee and homemade cakes in the communal lounge on arrival (a cosy open fire is lit in the lounge during the winter months). Our rural Wensleydale location on the north eastern edge of the Yorkshire Dales is truly spectacular and just a short distance from Aysgarth Falls and Redmire waterfalls as well as Bolton Castle and Leyburn's markets and fine shops.
Spacious beautifully appointed rooms each have beamed ceilings and their own seating areas with a selection of truffles from 'The Little Chocolate Shop' and 2 small bottles of complimentary wine. We're a strong supporter of local producers and suppliers, and our local suppliers include Yockenthwaite Farm in Skipton who supply our granola, Wensleydale Creamery in Hawes for our butter and our gluten free products are sourced from The Gluten Free Shop in Leyburn.
Check in is between 4pm and 6pm (other times available by arrangement). We are exclusively for adults - sorry no children please.
The Old Town House has views of 14th Century Bolton Castle which is within half a mile. The famous Aysgarth Falls is a mere 5 minute drive or 3 mile walk away across the fields. We're ideally located for walking and touring the Wensleydale and Swaledale landscapes of the Yorkshire Dales.
Heritage train enthusiasts can enjoy a trip on the nearby Wensleydale Railway which runs from Redmire to Leyburn and on to Leeming Bar. Other nearby attractions include The Forbidden Corner, The Black Sheep Brewery in Masham and the National Trust property of Fountain's Abbey.
Alternatively take a day trip to the Cremery at Hawes which is the home of Wensleydale Cheese, the Caves at Ingleton and White Scar, Ribblehead Viaduct, The Three Peaks, Kirkby Lonsdale or Richmond Castle.
From The M6: Leave at Junction 37 and take the A684 to Sedbergh. Stay on the A684 to Hawes and towards Leyburn. Turn left at the sign for Aysgarth Falls as you are leaving Aysgarth village. At the T junction turn right towards Carperby and Redmire. Just after the 30 sign in Redmire turn left up a narrow lane. The Old Town Hall is just after the bend on the right hand side.
From The A1: Leave The A1 at Leeming Bar and take A684 to Bedale. Turn right in Bedale towards Leyburn staying on the A684. Turn left at the mini roundabout in Leyburn towards Wensley and Hawes. Turn right in Wensley towards Redmire, Preston and Bolton Castle. Take the first right turn in Redmire signed Reeth. Do not follow the road round to the right but carry on straight across the junctions and down the access only road. The Old Town Hall is on your left hand side.
Rail & Air: The nearest mainline station is Northallerton but there is a station in Redmire on The Wensleydale Railway (You will need to get a bus to Leeming Bar from Northallerton). The nearest airport is Durham Tees Valley (Darlington). Other airports within a reasonable distance are Manchester, Leeds/Bradford and Newcastle. Please enquire about your onward journey from these airports.
