Old Radnor Barn B&B dates back 300 years, and is a former stable building providing an overnight resting place for stallions traveling on the Great Western Railway. Now, however, it provides truly one of a kind accommodation with many of it's original period features retained, and in a great location for a relaxing rural holiday.
Four bedrooms- 2 on the ground floor, and 2 on the first floor.
Four luxurious rooms available- on the ground floor there is a double room with a private bathroom, and a super- king double or twin room with an en-suite bathroom. On the first floor there is a king- size double room with private bathroom facilities, as well as a family room with en- suite facilities. Single room rates are negotiable depending on the season. All rooms have a double sofa bed, which can be used for an additional charge.
A choice of breakfasts from our published breakfast menu are included in the room prices. Choose from a Full Traditional Welsh Breakfast, a continental breakfast, a Full Vegetarian Welsh Breakfast, along with other options such as Welsh Rarebit, scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, omelette with a choice of fillings, scrambled eggs and poached eggs. If you have any special dietary requirements, please let us know and we can cater for your needs.
The well- maintained lawn garden surrounding the B&B boasts a patio area with picnic benches, barbecue and sun loungers. The owner also grows various fruit and vegetables in the garden, as well as beautiful blooming flowers, depending on the season.
Strictly no smoking in the property, however you may smoke in the garden, where ashtrays are provided. Check in between 4pm and 9pm, and check out before 11am (these times are flexible- please enquire.)
Snack menu available, and we are happy to cook a special meal as you require. Dinner party catering available upon request, for a charge. Pets are allowed in some rooms, however a charge of £10 is required. Room service available. Secure bike storage and packed lunches, afternoon teas and light lunches are available.
Disabled facilities- completely ground floor access, with easy access showers and fold down seating. All doors on the ground floor are wide enough for a wheelchair or motorised vehicle to fit through. All of the rooms have a selection of different lighting options for good visibility. Private parking for up to 6 vehicles, on a first come first served basis.
We can arrange a number of organised activities, please enquire when booking. Mini- fridge and ironing board available on request. Children must be supervised at all times.
Set in the picturesque market town of Talgarth in mid Wales, the area surrounding Old Radnor Barn B&B offers something for everyone. For cycling enthusiasts, Talgarth is one of the five Brecon Beacons National Park designated cycle hubs, and offers five different routes, all of which start just 50 metres away from the B&B.
There is a fantastic nature reserve at Pwll-y-Wrach, where you can explore the natural wildlife- from otters and badges, to the 40 foot waterfall. Visit the nearby villages of Llanthony and Tintern, where you can find famous abbey's dating back to the 12th Century.
Three miles away is the largest natural lake in Wales, Llangorse, and a 40 minutes drive away is the 2010 Ryder Cup Course at the Celtic Manor Resort.
Follow the A479 for 10 miles through the villages of Tretower and Cwmdu up and over the top of the mountain down and on to Talgarth. At the roundabout take the third exit signposted town center. After 60 meters take the first left, OLD RADNOR BARN can be found on the right hand side after about 50 meters.
