You may recognise the quaint village of Askrigg, as it was featured on the popular 1980's TV show 'All Creatures Great and Small' as the fictional village of Darrowby.
The area is packed with places of historical importance, from Bolton Castle where Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned, and Middleham Castle, where Richard III spent much of his childhood. There is still a great market in the centre of the village, still standing from the days of the market charter granted in 1587.
Further afield, Milton House is the ideal base for daytrips to the surrounding areas of Swaledale, Wharfedale and the entirety of the Dales National Park.
Askrigg is easily reached, just off the A684 which runs cross country from the M6 motorway (Junction 37) to the A1 (Leeming Bar.)
