Located three miles north of Hexham and the perfect gateway into Hadrian's Wall Country, Crag House B&B in Northumberland enjoys spectacular views north to the Cheviot Hills and west along Hadrian's Wall. Run by Melanie Douglas on her alpaca farm, Crag House provides a relaxing stay in luxurious and stylish accommodation. Surrounded by attractive open countryside and our large gardens, wildlife and scenic walks abound. We have a hard tennis court which is available to guests by arrangement, with rackets and balls for hire. Guests are greeted with tea and homemade cakes on arrival and we offer an outstanding location for touring, within easy reach of Newcastle, the North Pennines, Alnwick and the Northumberland Heritage Coast.
We offer two spacious king-size double en-suite rooms and two standard double en-suite rooms all with Freeview tv, alarm clocks, hairdryers, DVD players, ipod docks and tea and coffee making facilities. Ironing facilities are also available on request and each room is beautifully furnished with its own unique style of furniture and fabrics, inclusive of soft fluffy towels, luxury toiletries and bathrobes. Guests are welcome to relax in their own exclusive lounge with a warming woodburning stove and stylish antique furniture. Delicious locally sourced breakfasts are served daily, cooked fresh by excellent cook Melanie and featuring our own free-range eggs. Full cooked and Continental style breakfasts are both available and we'll also happily provide packed lunches and evening meals by prior arrangement.
Crag House is ideally located, providing easy access to local attractions. Hadrian's Wall, now a World Heritage Site, cuts though one of our fields and a section of wall is visible from the house. Other attractions include the Northumberland National Park, the spectacular Northumberland coastline with its miles of unspoilt beaches and impressive castles, the North Pennines, Hexham and Corbridge, with the cities of Newcastle and Durham within easy travelling distance. We warmly welcome families, with games available for guest use. Ample parking is on-site and additional facilities include baggage storage and an on-site secure lock up facility for bikes.
Weather permitting guests can enjoy our delicious breakfasts alfresco style on the sheltered, south-facing terrace. There is also a seating area overlooking some of the alpaca paddocks where guests can sit and enjoy the views to the west and north and enjoy the huge variety of birds and wildlife, including roe deer and red squirrels which are frequent visitors.
