About this Holiday Cottage

Detached Nannerth Ganol is an exquisite 18th Century cottage on a hill in a beautiful rural location near Rhayader and the Elan Valley.  The Cambrian Mountains, Elan reservoirs, the River Wye and a selection of superb local shops and cycling trails are all within easy reach. 

This rustic style cottage is ideal for couples and families alike, and is brimming with character features including an AGA in the kitchen, a chess board and record player in the lounge, and a variety of tasteful ornaments.  Living space has cosy beamed ceilings and a woodburner whilst outside there is a charming patio area with picnic table to the rear and a seating area to the front both with spectacular country views.  The cottage is in a courtyard opposite a traditional longhouse dating from 1555.

  • Access is via two steps from the parking area.

Ground Floor

  • Spacious open plan lounge/ living area and kitchen.
  • The lounge has a record player with records provided, a chess board and TV, a cosy woodburner and comfortable seating.
  • The kitchen includes an integrated dining table with four chairs, an AGA, an oven and hob, a washing machine, a fridge, microwave and all kitchen accessories/ cutlery.

First Floor

  • A charming wooden staircase leads up to a spacious hallway with wooden flooring.
  • Original beams are throughout - one beam dates from 1846!
  • Spacious double bedroom and a twin bedroom.
  • The modern bathroom is newly fitted with a bath and shower over, a wash basin and wc.


A patio area with seating is to the rear accessed via a couple of steps from the first floor or via a staircase to the side of the house.  A cosy seating area is also to the front. 

A pretty garden surrounds the cottage and a BBQ is available.  Nannerth Ganol is elevated on a hill and has stunning views from all sides. 

Ample parking is onsite in a parking area to the side of the house. 

Other Things to Note

  • Pets are welcome by request only - please contact us direct - we currently have two dogs onsite along with chickens and ducks.
  • The property is unsuitable for very young toddlers and babies, however children are welcome.

Around and About

A perfect retreat, this 18th Century cottage offers a peaceful rural location within easy reach of Rhayader amenities and only a short distance from Llanidloes. 

Many nearby shops sell the finest locally sourced and organic produce, and locally made arts and crafts.  Explore nearby villages such as Llangurig and Trefeglwys, or head off on scenic walks along the Glyndwr's Way and the Severn Way.
