Built in 1922 as part of the main manor house for the Porlock Estate, Conifer House is bursting with character. Now divided up into three properties, the residence sleeps 9 people over 3 floors, and occupies a great location, enjoying scenic views over Porlock Bay towards Hurlestone Point.
The spacious interior of Conifer House offers all the home comforts you may need during your stay. An open- plan kitchen and dining room leads into the back garden, and you can find a large sitting room furnished with a Freeview TV, DVD player, comfy leather sofas and an electric wood- burner on the ground floor, as well as a cloakroom.
The fully equipped kitchen includes an oven and hob, microwave, washing machine, fridge, freezer, kettle, toaster and range of kitchen utensils. A high chair and/ or cot is available, however of you requite these please notify us when booking.
Conifer House boasts an impressive amount of bedrooms- five in total, and can sleep up to nine people. There are three double bedrooms, one twin bedroom and one single bedroom. There are two bathrooms, as well as a separate shower area.
One of the unique features about this fantastic property is the garden- when the house was built, plant guru Edward Percival was employed as head gardener. He exchanged cuttings of unusual plants from all over the world with Norman Hadden and EB Anderson- two famous 20th Century plantsmen- who also both also had properties in West Porlock.
To the front of the house, there is a patio area with garden furniture, and can be accessed by the stone steps leading down from the parking area. The enclosed, private back garden has a gate at the bottom, and leads to the South West Coastal Path, a route popular with walkers.
Strictly non- smoking. Off- road parking available for up to 3 cars on the shared driveway at the front of the house. Dogs are welcome to join guests by prior arrangement, and a fee of £25. Please note that dogs are not allowed upstairs or on furniture, and do not leave them alone in the house at any time. Arrival after 4pm, departures before 10am.
Items included for guests' use are a small amount of tea, coffee, sugar, milk, biscuits, washing up liquid, surface cleaner, and a few toilet rolls. Also supplied are bed linen, duvets, blankets and towels. However, if you wish to use towels on day trips, please supply your own.
During peak periods, Conifer House is available for week long breaks, and during other times 3 or 4 night breaks from Friday to Monday, or Monday to Friday may be be available.
Approximately 3/4 of a mile either way from Conifer House is either Porlock, or Porlock Weir. Both of these places offer a range of restaurants, pubs and independent shops, with all the amenities you may need during your stay.
A further 6 miles from Conifer House is the town of Minehead, which has many of the larger supermarkets and petrol stations, plus a variety of other shops.
