The location of this idyllic rural cottage in Exmoor was made famous as the setting for Lorna Doone: A Romance of Exmoor, the 1869 novel by RD Blackmore. It's the perfect retreat for families or a small group of friends.
The inside of this traditional cottage provides all the home comforts you will need for a great holiday. The large living room is furnished with comfy leather armchairs, a TV and a DVD player. The kitchen is well- equipped and includes a microwave, electric oven with ceramic hob, fridge, freezer, kettle, toaster, and a wide range of utensils and cookware. From the dining area, there are French doors leading onto the patio and large enclosed garden. There is also a conservatory/boot room which is a great sun- trap. Free WiFi.
Oare Water Cottage sleeps 4 people, with one double bedroom and one twin bedroom. There are two bathrooms, one with a jacuzzi bath and the other with a shower.
Surrounding the cottage is a large, private and enclosed garden, with garden furniture and a patio- perfect for relaxing on summer evenings.
Strictly non- smoking. Maximum of 2 dogs welcome via prior arrangement and for a fee of £25. Please don't leave your dogs alone in the property, and don't allow them on the furniture. Off- road parking outside the Cottage.
The Exmoor valley in which Malmsmead is situated provides little or no mobile phone signal, however free WiFi is available, and there is also a landline for incoming and emergency calls. Arrive after 4pm, depart before 10am.
Items included for guests' use include tea, coffee, sugar, milk, biscuits, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, toilet rolls, bed linen, towels, blankets and duvets. However, for day trips please supply your own beach towels.
During peak periods, Oare Water Cottage is available for Saturday- to- Saturday week long breaks. At other times, shorter breaks of 3 or 4 nights may be available.
Oare Water Cottage is conveniently close to a cafe which offers takeaway food, just beyond the packhorse bridge. A further 7 miles out are the villages of Porlock and Lynton where you can find several pubs and grocery shops, a traditional local butcher, cash machine, chemist, hardware store and petrol station.
