Brimming with period features and charm, Roger Ground Cottage is a beautifully presented property set in an elevated position overlooking Esthwaite Water to Claife Heights and beyond. The cottage has been superbly appointed throughout with all the comforts of modern living yet retains wonderful period features including heavy oak doors, exposed beams and fireplaces. The property is ideal for families or two couples visiting the beautiful Hawkshead area and dogs are welcome by prior arrangement.
The attractive sitting room has period exposed beams, a lovely wood burner stove and is furnished with two large leather sofas, a flat screen TV with Sky Freeview service and a DVD player. The ground floor accommodation also features a dining area seating four with open fire and a fully fitted Shaker style kitchen with dishwasher, fridge, microwave, electric oven and hob. An additional utility room houses the laundry facilities, a WC and freezer plus offers handy storage space for wet clothes and boots. A feature curved staircase leads up to the first floor landing and two bedrooms.
There is one pretty master double bedroom with ensuite shower room, lake views and co-ordinated furnishings. Charming old oak 'his and her' doors retaining their original wooden latches lead into this room.
The dual aspect second bedroom can be presented as either a twin or super king-size double and has an original inset fire. There is also a vanity hand basin and this room enjoys use of the nearby family bathroom with a hand basin, WC and bath.
To the front of the cottage are steps going down to the lawn garden area, a bench and chiminea. Enjoy soaking up the beautiful views and watch out for the ospreys over Esthwaite Water. There is also an outdoor tap and adjacent parking for two cars.
Cots and high chairs can be hired at £10 per booking. Bed linen is provided and towels can be hired at £5 per stay. The cottage is fitted with central heating and also has two fires which help keep it warm and cosy throughout the year. Electricity and fuels are included in the rental price.
Short breaks of one to six nights are welcome during off peak times. Well behaved dogs are accepted at an extra charge of £20 per booking. The changeover day during peak times for weekly stays is Saturday.
The cottage is set within easy reach of Hawkshead, Windermere and Coniston Water. Guests can also enjoy scenic bikes rides in nearby Grizedale Forest which is also home to a Go Ape adventure course.
