This mid 19th Century cottage is the perfect retreat, decorated with traditional style fused with modern comforts. Located in the heart of the the village of Porlock, the property is surrounded by thatched cottages and boasts spectacular views- the garden overlooks Porlock Bay and further out to sea.
Stag Cottage has a fully fitted kitchen, equipped with all equipment necessary for a comfortable visit. This includes an electric cooker with hob, fridge with a freezer compartment, washer/dryer and a dishwasher. One of the more impressive features is the electronically- heated Rayburn range cooker, which takes the chill out of the frosty evenings.
The property also has a spacious living room, and a dining table is available for guests to use in the the kitchen.
Also available is unlimited WiFi, a TV with free satellite channels, on demand services such as BBC iplayer, recorder and a DAB radio combined with an ipod docking station.
One of the defining features of the living room is the wood-burner. Provided are kindling, matches and one basket of logs, however additional logs are available from the local Porlock hardware store. All rooms have electric radiators controlled by a modern thermostat.
The cottage has two bedrooms- a double room and a twin room, both offering spectacular views across the village. There is one bathroom, which has a bath combined with a power shower.
A beautiful terrace garden is a main feature of the property. Flowers bloom, and it offers breathtaking views across the nearby hills, over Porlock village and way out to sea. The garden consists of three levels, one of these with a barbecue, table, parasol and 4 chairs, the next level with 4 rattan arm chairs and a parasol, and lastly there is a level with a rocking bench.
There is free parking on the road outside the cottage, however we feel that there will be little need to use your car, as everything you may need to buy can be picked up in Purlock village.
There are steep steps leading to the house, and these may not be suitable for use by people with limited mobility, or young children. If you need a high chair or cot, please note that due to storage, there is none available in the cottage and you are required to bring your own. Strictly non-smoking. Arrival from 4pm, departure by 10am.
For your convenience, items included in the property include a small amount of tea, coffee, milk, sugar and biscuits, as well as a few toilet rolls and washing up liquid.
Provided for guests are good quality Egyptian cotton bed linen, blankets, towels and duvets, however if you plan to take towels with you on daytrips, please provide your own.
A maximum of 2 dogs are permitted to stay in the cottage with you for a fee of £25, however they are not to be left alone in the property and we please ask that you don't allow them upstairs, or on the furniture.

Situated in a traditional Exmoor village, the cottage has everything you could possibly need within walking distance- three pubs, a post office, grocery shops, cash machine, chemist, a local butcher, visitor centre, restaurants and a petrol station.
The nearest town is Minehead, and is located approximately 7 miles away. Larger supermarkets such as Morrison's and Tesco can be found here, as well as a range of other shops and banks.
