Rated as one of the coolest cottages in Yorkshire by 'The Guardian' in July 2014, Foxglove Cottage is a truly magical property with a stunning interior created by an owner passionate about design and travel. The cottage retains plenty of original features which are complimented by original artwork and pieces sourced by the owner. Ideal for both couples and families, the cottage is perfect for exploring both the heather-clad moorland and wonderful coastline of Yorkshire.
The porch with original terracotta tile flooring leads into the charming country style kitchen. There is a breakfast table looking out over the terrace, warm oak work tops, Fired Earth hand made tiles and foundry iron inserts. The units are made by John Lewis of Hungerford and the kitchen is fitted with a Falcon Range cooker plus plenty of cook books are provided. A separate utility room houses a cloakroom and shower.
The formal dining room is furnished with feature blood-red walls and carefully chosen pieces from around the world. Double doors from the dining room lead into the comfortable sitting room with open fire, original artwork and sumptuous linen sofas.
The twin bedroom is furnished with white iron beds and colourful patchwork throws. There is also a large double bedroom with king size bed which offers lovely views out to the front of the cottage. There is a second double bedroom at the rear of the cottage which looks out over the garden and has an ensuite cloakroom. The three bedrooms share use of the attractive family bathroom.
The gardens at Foxglove are wonderful with outdoor seating areas and pretty benches by the lawn. There is also off road parking provided.
Short breaks of three nights or more may be available except during the Christmas/ New Year period when a five night minimum stay applies. A 15% discount is available for couples using just one bedroom.
Beautiful moorland walks can be enjoyed right from the doorstep and nearby towns to visit include Thornton le dale, Pickering, Whitby, Robin Hood's Bay, Sandsend, Staithes, Runswick Bay and Scarborough.
