About Lapwing Lodge

Overlooking the Solway Firth and Galloway's Criffel Mountain, Lapwing Lodge sits within our beautiful Arbigland Estate to the south of Dumfries. Perfect for families, the log chalet is just 20 yards from the seashore and features luxury open plan living space with a cosy log burner and an outdoor furnished, covered deck with a BBQ.  Lapwing, which is 1 of 3 luxury lodges clustered in the Carse Bay area on our estate, takes its name from the many lapwings or 'peewits' that nest in fields surrounding the log chalets.

Stunning family friendly sandy beaches on the Colvend Coast are nearby, and the lodge is only a 5 minute walk along the beach from The Steamboat pub in Carsethorn. The estate offers numerous opportunities for wildlife watching and birdwatching. Activities only minutes away include mountain biking on 7 Stanes Trails and golf at world class Southerness golf links. Guests are welcome to bring their own horse along - stabling facilities are available in the livery yard at nearby South Carse equestrian centre.
