Around and About

The Lakeland market town of Keswick with numerous attractions, high quality eateries, fine inns and fantastic specialist shops is just minutes away.  Accommodation is also ideally close to Wordsworth's birthplace town Cockermouth

Situated at the foot of Skiddaw, the location is perfect for walking breaks, with a choice of walking routes ranging from easy to difficult in grading direct from your cottage door.  For those who are looking for a challenge, the summit of Skiddaw is a short walk away and is an 8 mile round trail.

Flat walks around nearby Bassenthwaite Lake and surrounding villages are also easily accessible and anyone with pushchairs, wheelchairs or young children have a choice of over 40 ‘no stile’ routes.

From the M6

Turn off at Junction 40 (Penrith) and head West for Keswick.  At the Keswick roundabout turn right (A591 to Carlisle). Follow the road (for about 5 miles) until you see High Side Farm on the right.  Take the right-turn immediately after the farm up the hill to Overwater. Follow the road for about 2.5 miles and Peter House Farm is on your left.

From Ambleside & South Lakes

Head into Keswick and follow the main road through town until you see a right turn to the A591.  At the next roundabout, with the A66, go straight over (signposted Carlisle).  Follow the road for about 5 miles until you see High Side Farm on the right.  Take the right-turn immediately after the farm, up the hill to Overwater.  Follow the road for about 2.5 miles and Peter House Farm will be on your left.  As you turn into the farm entrance Peter House Loft is down the access to right, past the cottage and round the farmhouse.  The entrance to The Cottage is visible; again as you come in to the farm and swing right, but will be directly facing you as you do so.  Parking is signposted by the side.
