Perfectly situated near the Forest of Dean, Wye Valley View is a charismatic cottage with fabulous views of the surrounding countryside. Based in the historic village of Symonds Yat and only a few minutes’ walk from the River Wye, the cottage has easy access to a range of local activities including walking, cycling, canoeing, boat trips, birdwatching, fishing, rock climbing and local shops/ eateries. This stylish stone built cottage is brilliantly kitted out to cater for a family of four, offering all of the essential home comforts and great facilities for self-catering. If you fancy venturing further afield, surrounding towns and villages including Ross on Wye, Monmouth and Hereford have a wealth of historic sites, shops and food outlets.
Both stylish and comfortable, our beautifully furnished cottage sleeps four people and contains two bedrooms downstairs including a fantastic master bedroom with super king size bed, colour TV with freeview and an en suite shower room. A second smaller kingsize double bedroom can be arranged as a twin or double room on request or we would be happy to set the room as a separate nursery with cot, bedding and cot toys. The room is also equipped with a colour TV and DVD player. There is a separate bathroom with bath/shower along the corridor. A spacious kitchen on the upper floor will provide you with all the equipment for your self-catering holiday and includes an electric cooker, large fridge freezer and a washing machine. Just along the corridor, the homely living room provides comfortable seating, colour TV/DVD player and offers a selection of games and audio visual entertainment, the room overlooks a private garden BBQ/terrace through sliding patio doors. Guests and their children are also welcome to enjoy our further terraced lawns with swings, outdoor toys and garden furniture.
You will receive a welcome pack on arrival containing local wine from our excellent local vineyards, tea, milk, coffee and sugar are supplied as well as cleaning materials, cling film, washing up liquid and many other items to make your stay with us perfect. We also have complementary luxury toiletries and there is no need to bring a hair dryer as there is one provided in each bedroom. There is access to free wifi throughout the cottage and you will find a range of local maps and guides to help make the most of your stay. The cottage has full gas fired central heating and air conditioning to keep you comfy in any season. An iron and ironing board are provided. We are more than happy to accommodate for any specific needs or requirements you may have, just let us know when booking.
Our idyllic family cottage offers so much more than just accommodation. Behind the property a paddock holds our friendly Ryeland sheep who love a stroke on the nose, we can also arrange for guests to help us feed them. We also provide a large canoe rack for storing kayaks and canoes and secure bike storage overlooked with CCTV. Anyone keeping a bike or canoe with us will get access to a fix and maintenance kit and wash down facilities suitable for muddy bikes (and boots) and access to first aid kits. Maps, umbrellas and torches are also supplied.
Nearby railway stations include Hereford (17 miles), Gloucester (24 miles) and Ledbury (24 miles) and buses and national express coaches operate to Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth. If arriving by road, guests should turn off A40 at Whitchurch village and follow the B4164 into Symonds Yat West, our driveway is immediately after the first inn on the right. We are clearly signposted but advise that you turn around further up the road to enter our driveway safely. Go through our gateway and ensure the gates are closed.
