Perfectly situated on the edge of the Forest of Dean, Wye Valley View is a commended charismatic cottage set within a family run smallholding with private off road parking for one car. The property enjoys fabulous views of the surrounding countryside and an enviable location. Based in the historic village of Symonds Yat itself and only a few minutes’ walk from the River Wye, the cottage has easy access to a wide range of local activities including walking, cycling, canoeing, boat trips, birdwatching, fishing, rock climbing and local shops/ eateries.

This attractive recently refurbished stone built cottage is brilliantly kitted out, offering all of the essential home comforts and great facilities for self-catering. If you fancy venturing further afield, surrounding towns and villages including Ross on Wye, Monmouth and Hereford have a wealth of historic sites, shops and food outlets.


Both stylish and comfortable, this beautifully furnished cottage is arranged over one upper floor and sleeps up to two adults in a double bedroom with generous sized bed. There is a separate bathroom with bath/electric shower and wc.

A spacious kitchen enjoys lovely valley views and provides you with all the equipment for your self-catering holiday including electric cooker, large fridge freezer and washing machine. The recently refurbished homely living/dining room provides two comfortable sofas (one each!) plus footstool and large flatscreen digital freeview TV and DVD player.

There is also a generous selection of books, games and audio visual entertainment. The dual aspect room overlooks the Wye Valley on one side and to the other, adjacent to the dining table and chairs, a private garden BBQ/terrace area with paddock beyond, accessed through sliding patio doors so you can sit and enjoy the view and friendly local wildlife as you enjoy your meals.

You will receive a welcome pack on arrival. Tea, milk, coffee and sugar are supplied as well as cleaning materials, cling film, washing up liquid, kitchen towel, tea towels and many other items to make your stay with us hassle free. We provide a wide range of home comforts including complimentary luxury toiletries and there is no need to bring a hair drier; it is provided.

There is access to free wifi throughout the cottage and you will find a range of local maps and guides to help make the most of your stay. The property enjoys full gas fired central heating and air conditioning to keep you comfy in any season and all bedlinen and towels are supplied; your bed will be made up ready for your arrival.

Special to Wye Valley View

Our idyllic cottage offers so much more than just accommodation. Behind the property a paddock holds our friendly Ryeland sheep who love a stroke on the nose, we can also arrange for guests to help us feed them. There is direct access from your front door to many wonderful woodland and riverside walks including the famous Symonds Yat gorge.

We provide secure bike storage overlooked with CCTV. Anyone keeping a bike or canoe with us will get access to a fix and maintenance kit and wash down facilities suitable for muddy bikes (and boots) and access to first aid kits. Maps, umbrella and torch are also supplied.

Directions to Wye Valley View

Nearby railway stations include Hereford (17 miles), Gloucester (24 miles) and Ledbury (24 miles) and buses and national express coaches operate to Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth. If arriving by road, guests should turn off A40 at Whitchurch village and follow the B4164 into Symonds Yat West, our driveway is immediately after the first inn on the right. We are clearly signposted but advise that you turn around further up the road to enter our driveway safely. Go through our gateway and please ensure the gates are closed behind you. Please park at the top of the drive beside the Annexe at the bottom of the external staircase. Your entrance is at the top of the stairs where there is a key box for which an access code will be provided. We look forward to welcoming you!
