About this Property

Salcombe in South Devon is a wonderful destination at any time of year, be it for couples or families and this charming, tastefully restored period 19th century fisherman's cottage is situated a short distance from the waterfront on the vibrant Island Street. Boatman's Cottage is ideally placed to take advantage of the wonderful golden sandy beaches on both sides of the estuary, as well as the many pubs, restaurants and interesting shops in this bustling seaside town. Salcombe is a Mecca for all things to do with the water, with a beautiful natural harbour providing an attractive destination for yachts, as well as a safe area for dinghy sailing and most forms of water sports. The River Maid steams up on the tide to the market town of Kingsbridge at the head of the estuary during the summer, providing a wonderful scenic trip on the way.  The cottage itself is warm, welcoming and full of character with the added benefit of a small outside patio from where you can watch the world go by as you relax in the sun.


Front door to living room with flagstone floor. Generous kitchen area with ceramic hob, electric oven and grill, new large fridge freezer, washing machine, dishwasher and microwave. Breakfast bar with 4 stools dividing kitchen from lounge area, which is furnished with a 2 seater sofa, armchair and occasional chair. TV with basic Sky digital, DVD and radio/CD.  Stairs up to landing and double bedroom with 4ft 6in double bed, 2 bedside cabinets, small hanging space and clock radio. Spacious twin bunk bedroom with two 3ft bunk beds, chest of drawers and bedside cabinet. Family bathroom with bath and shower over, hand basin, WC, heated towel rail and shaver point.


Small patio area in front of the cottage, furnished with garden chairs. (Pathway crosses in front of cottage to give access to other cottages in the terrace).

Parking: In nearby Creek public car park on Gould Road - A parking permit is left in the cottage for the months April to September inclusive.

If staying at the property between Oct 1st - March 31st you can park in Shadycombe Public Car Park (200 yards away). Weekly permits for this cost approximately £32 and can be purchased in advance by calling South Hams district council on 01803 861 234, or on arrival from Salcombe Tourist Information centre TQ8 8DE (01548 843 927), which is located around the corner (on corner of Market street and Courtenay Street).

Please Note: Owing to the steepness of the stairs this cottage may not be suitable for the elderly or infirm.
