On a sunny day as you draw up at Longfield you could be in the South of France, only better. The superb house, built in the 1920's,  is impressive but the views are truly spectacular. Longfield is a beautifully appointed villa in 4 acres of manicured gardens set above the River Avon estuary at Bantham, South Devon with yachts moored in the river below and breathtaking unbroken views out to sea, past Bantham Beach and Burgh Island.

Surrounded by immaculate landscaped gardens with tennis court, helipad and lawns reaching down towards the river, Longfield is a superb place to stay with family or a group of friends. This substantial house has an air of St Tropez or the Hamptons and is light and airy throughout with stunning views from almost every room. The rooms are all handsomely furnished, extremely comfortable and equipped to the very highest standards. Highlights include a massive bay window in the sitting room with glorious 180 degree river and sea views, games room with full size snooker table, sitting room with smart TV & surround sound and magnificent master suite with bedroom, dressing room, bathroom and additional shower room.

Set in the picturesque seaside village of Bantham, South Devon, Longfield is perfectly placed to explore this popular holiday area with its numerous  long sandy beaches, including fantastic surfing at Bantham Beach and golden sands of nearby Thurlestone. Within walking distance, Bantham has a cosy pub with excellent food and the nearby towns of Kingsbridge and Salcombe have a wide range of restaurants, bars and shops and are also hubs for sailing and other water based activities. With miles of coast and countryside to explore from the doorstep, Longfield provides all you could wish for and more

Ground Floor:

Spacious drawing room with sofas and armchairs, breathtaking views of the Burgh Island, stone fireplace with gas fire. French doors open on to the front terrace which runs the length of the property. Adjoining dining area with gas burning stove and serving hatch through to the kitchen. Sitting room with 42" Smart TV and surround sound home cinema system, Sky TV package, wireless broadband, stone fireplace with gas burning stove. Study fitted with oak book cases and boardroom table, lots of books & games, kitchenette area and office area with French doors leading to the garden. Cloakroom with WC and hand basin. Superb kitchen with four oven Aga with integrated ceramic hob, separate electric oven with grill, American-style fridge-freezer, separate integrated fridge and freezer, dishwasher, TV and glazed stable doors leading to rear terrace. Breakfast room to seat eight with TV and patio doors leading to terrace seating area with Italian style pergola and gas barbecue, which enjoy spectacular views over the gardens to the water. Utility room with microwave, washing machine,  tumble dryer and fridge freezer. Bedroom 1 Double bedroom with king sized bed and fitted wardrobes, en suite bathroom with bath and shower over, steps lead down to a sitting room/bedroom (separated by a dividing curtain) furnished with 3ft day bed and guest bed under, which forms two 3ft single beds. Kitchenette with electric oven and hob, washer dryer.

Billiards room with full size snooker table, large TV and ipod docking tower, door to garden and rear patio area. Cloakroom with WC and wash hand basin.

First Floor:
Master bedroom suite
(bedroom 2) with beautiful views over the gardens to the water and Burgh Island. Superking size double bed, French doors opening to balcony, chests of drawers, fitted wardrobes, TV with DVD. En suite sitting/dressing room or occasional bedroom furnished with 3ft day bed and guest bed under, which can form two 3ft single beds. En suite bathroom with under-floor heating, two person Jacuzzi-style bath, twin sinks, heated towel rail, WC and bidet. Adjacent to a shower room with walk in power shower, heated towel rail, WC and wash basin. Bedroom 3 with views over the garden to the sea, superking sized bed which can split to two 3ft single beds, built in wardrobes, chest of drawers. Bedroom 4 garden facing bunk bedroom with 3ft bunk bed plus 3 ft single bed,  wardrobe and chest of drawers. Family bathroom with bath and shower over, WC, bidet and wash basin.

The main house will accommodate up to 12 guests;  the Studio is available for up to two guests for an additional charge of £300 per week, please advise at time of booking if required and the rental will be adjusted accordingly. 

Separate first floor studio reached by a separate external entrance. Steps leading to first floor sitting room with sofa and TV with DVD.  Bedroom 5 with 5ft king size bed, built in wardrobes and drawers. Kitchen with electric oven and ceramic hob, fridge freezer, washer dryer. Bathroom with bath and shower over, WC,  hand basin.

Outside: The house is surrounded by exotic sub-tropical gardens and a substantial terrace with steps leading down to lawns over a range of terraces,  with garden furniture and gas barbecue. The gardens run down towards a helipad. Please note there are some steep slopes between the levels of which parents/children should be aware. On the southern side of the house  the gardens lead to a fish pond and further, to a superb en-tout-cas tennis court. To the north are further areas of lawn and a fully enclosed  area ideal for determined dogs. A pathway winds through the garden and down through a garden gate, across a neighbouring field and directly to the foreshore.

A daily maid service is available by prior arrangement with the caretakers.
