Lower Barn provides warm, cosy and comfortable accommodation which will delight guests seeking to explore both the countryside and coastline of South Devon and beyond. The property benefits from an elevated location and provides direct access to the southern tip of Dartmoor National Park to one side, the rolling South Hams countryside on the other, and with views towards the sea approximately 7 miles to the south. The car can be left behind whilst guests discover a number of valley and moorland walks direct from the cottage door or perhaps explore the surrounding Bronze Age landscape on horseback or investigate one of the three nationally renowned cycle trails. Within a short drive, the superb sandy beaches at Mothecombe or Bigbury will amuse the children. For those exploring further afield the Ocean city of Plymouth, historic Exeter or even Cornwall's attractions such as The Eden Project are all easily accessible.
Lower Barn, a granite former milking parlour, provides a perfect rural retreat and is part of a collection of holiday cottages set around a delightful courtyard at Blackadon Farm. Guests are invited to explore its four acres of surrounding grounds which brim with interesting flora and fauna. Enjoy al fresco cooking in one of the barbecues areas or find a quiet seat from which to enjoy the views and listen to birdsong. Should the weather be unkind then shelter inside and enjoy the games room. Internally, the property is spread across one level and offers a homely open plan living area and a four poster master bedroom. Lower Barn will undoubtedly appeal to both families and couples alike.
Front door opens into small porch. A door to the right leads into an open plan living space. Lounge area with two large sofas, TV, DVD player and CD / cassette player. Kitchen dining area with table to comfortably accommodate 6. Kitchen with electric cooker with ceramic hob, microwave, fridge with ice box compartment and dishwasher. To the left of the front door is the master bedroom with a 4ft 6 wrought iron 4 poster double bed. En suite with shower, hand basin and WC. Door from lounge leads to twin bedroom with two 3ft single beds and countryside views. Family bathroom with bath, separate shower, hand basin and WC. Two steps lead down to second dual aspect twin bedroom with two 3ft single beds.
A separate laundry room is equipped with a coin operated washing machine and tumble dryer.
Please note that the tap water is sourced from a Dartmoor borehole and is regularly tested to keep in-line with current regulations.
Shared courtyard with seating directly outside the cottage. A grassed guest lawn is furnished with garden furniture and benefits from superb views towards the coast and is bordered to one edge by fruit trees. There are a couple of differing barbecue areas. Guests are also welcome to explore the farm's 4 acres of grounds. A games room to be equipped with table tennis, exercise equipment and a coin operated sauna will be available for Easter 2014.
