Chestnut Cottage, recently refurbished and located in a quiet valley not far from the coast and the village of Slapton in South Devon is part of Buckland Court. Located deep in delightful South Hams countryside, this ground floor cottage is close to Slapton Ley, a world famous nature reserve, a 3 mile beach and several excellent real ale pubs. Dartmouth and Kingsbridge are within 15 minutes drive, both with interesting shops, fine restaurants, boat trips, sailing and much more. Totnes, a quaint Elizabethan town is 9 miles away and Dartmoor, with wonderful walking and spectacular scenery is within easy reach. Buckland Court is well situated for a wide range of indoor and outdoor pursuits including golf. A gate from the courtyard opens out to a sweep of grass and orchard (1.5 acres) including a large pond populated by ducks. There is a built in barbecue with picnic benches where guests can relax and young people can play outdoor games and new for 2015 a children's adventure playhouse on stilts with a slide and swings and a pool table/tennis table in the laundry room for those rainy days.
The cottages are very comfortable and well furnished and set around a pretty courtyard with summer hanging baskets and benches. The kitchens are well equipped with gas hobs, cooker extractor hoods, built-under ovens, fridges and microwaves. All beds are standard size (4ft 6in doubles, 3ft singles). The bathrooms all have a shower over the bath, hand basin and WC. All cottages have central heating, a gas fire in the living area and are equipped with iron and ironing board. There is a large communal laundry room with coin operated washing machine, dryer and freezer. There is a large range of local information and in season a small incubator, who knows what you might see hatch during your stay! Water is supplied through filtered and tested borehole water. The resident caretaker keeps a whiteboard up to date with the latest sightings of wildlife, can lend you a bat detector, a metal detector or a telescope and is conversant in German and French. He is always ready with suggestions that will help you get the most out of your holiday.

Situated on the ground floor in the charming lower courtyard of Buckland Court, Chestnut is an attractive, roomy cottage for two or three. There are no access steps or within the cottage, which makes it particularly suitable for those with walking disabilities and enables easy push chair access.
Shared entrance hall with Maple cottage. Front door into small hallway that leads into a spacious very comfortable living room with two sofas, gas fire, TV with video/DVD player, plenty of books and dining table to seat 4. The kitchen area is well equipped and has a gas hob with electric oven, microwave and fridge with ice compartment. The comfortable bedroom has twin 3ft beds and attractive pine furniture. Bathroom with bath, shower over, basin, WC and over-bath clothes dryer.
