About this Apartment

Our charming Apartment in the Lyth Valley is situated just inside the south boundary of the Lake District National Park, an area famous for its Damson orchards.

Sam and Tiree are the second generation of Dawsons to manage the property. They are local to the area and are passionate about the food, landscape and way of life.


The interior of Crosthwaite House stylishly combines period features with modern furnishings, and provides all the appliances and facilities you may need to make your stay a comfortable one.

There are stripped wooden floors throughout the living and kitchen areas, as well as vintage ornaments and breathtaking views across the Lyth Valley.

The fitted kitchen has wooden floors, an oven, hob, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer and dining table for 6 people.

The lounge has a wood burning stove as well entertainment systems including a smart TV, Blu- Ray and DVD player.

Bedrooms / Bathrooms

There are three lovingly decorated bedrooms at Crosthwaite house: two super- king size beds which can be converted into twin beds on request, and a double. All of these rooms have a small en- suite bathroom attached.

  • Farleigh - the smallest room, with views over the church and the valley.
  • Bradley's King - super king- size bed, with views over the valley. (Can convert into twin beds.)
  • Westmorland - super king-size bed, (can convert into twin beds.) Overlooks the attractive rear garden.


There is a lovely patio area, extensive gardens and a fruit orchard inhabited by our friendly resident hens and ducks.

Other Things to Note

Off- road parking. Free WiFi throughout the apartment. Strictly no smoking, and no pets.

Guests should be aware that a deposit of 25% deposit is required to secure your booking, and the full balance is due 28 days before you arrive.


We normally take bookings for a minimum of 7 nights (Friday to Friday), and short breaks may be available outside of school holiday times. These are charged at 70% of the weekly rate with three night stays starting on a Friday and four night stays starting on a Monday. Please contact us for availability and pricing.

We offer a superb location for touring the Central and South Lakes, within easy reach of premier museums, galleries and shops in Kendal including the internationally acclaimed Abbot Hall Art Gallery.

We're just five miles from bustling historic market town Kendal and favourite Lakeland holiday centre Bowness on Windermere. There are a range of local guide books and maps in the apartment.
