Here at the CountrySOLE Project, we're proud to offer sustainable, eco-friendly accommodation in idyllic countryside near the Brecon Beacons. Enjoy a peaceful holiday, "off the grid" in quiet seclusion in our Little Wood House Lodge, made from Finnish Pine and sleeping up to six, standing on our smallholding in Herefordshire, next to a small nature reserve, it is powered by wind energy and solar power.
The cottage has an open plan living area with a wood-fired Rayburn oven in the kitchen. We've provided dining facilities and comfortable seats,
Our Bunkhouse Cottage sleeps four to six people in two bedrooms, one with a double bed with bunk bed above and the other with a set of full size bunk beds. In addition, each room has a loft bed above the door which can be accessed by a ladder. A double futon in the living room offers further sleeping space for two. and the bathroom includes a shower and a composting toilet.
A cot can be provided for a baby or toddler.
The verandah, where you can enjoy the stunning Herefordshire views, is accessed by a ramp.
You're very welcome to walk around our grounds and learn more about our work, where we have a circular vegetable garden and in the centre a pond where it is hoped to produce fish for eating. We grow our own fruit and vegetables, and have planted 350 trees to replace those that were used to build our holiday cottages.
We also have a garden kitchen with a BBQ, for use during the summer.
Our cottage is powered by solar energy, with LED lights, and we use grey water in the gardens. The CountrySOLE project is an ongoing effort to provide eco-friendly and sustainable accommodation. It stands for Country Sustainable Organic Living Experience, and it's how we live to remain in balance with the Earth.
We ask that visitors ensure the suitability of anyone using a loft bed.
We have a paddock, providing camping space for £5 per person, per night, in conjunction with cottage hire. Your dog is welcome but we do ask that you keep them off the furniture, and keep them under control near the livestock. We ask that you take note of our efforts during your visit and limit use of your car when possible. We provide space to park vehicles on site, and are happy to offer transport to local bus stops if required.
A bike hire service is available, so you can get out and enjoy the local area at leisure. If you'd like to know more about what we do here, or want to book your stay, please call us today.
There are many wonderful walks in the surrounding countryside and a pleasant stroll through the Nature Reserve will take you to Eardisley with two pubs, a post office and shop and in the other direction you can walk to Almeley where you can buy lots of local produce or wet your whistle in The Bells inn. We have some fabulous houses, gardens and festivals in and around the nearby market towns and villages.
