Situated slightly back from the main road in a peaceful and secluded location, The Jug and Bottle is a charming 19th Century country style inn with excellent cask ales, locally sourced cuisine, stylish ensuite guest rooms and inviting open fires. Ideal for both relaxing drinks and overnight stays, we are conveniently located for walkers and visitors to The Wirral Peninsula, Liverpool and Chester.
We have a choice of single, double and twin guest rooms plus a family room with one double bedroom and one single bed which can sleep three people. Many offer views over the Dee Estuary to the hills of North Wales and offer great facilities including an LCD TV, tea/ coffee making supplies and free Wi-Fi service. Some also offer views of the Liverpool skyline and the tranquil gardens surrounding the hotel.
Check in time is 2pm until 10pm and check out time is 11am.
All our rates include a full cooked breakfast. We serve a range of homemade, locally sourced cuisine in the restaurant for lunch and dinner including a delicious weekly Sunday lunch. We have a special menu for children and also offer an extensive wine list plus a choice of hot drinks. Special diets are happily catered for.
Our opening times are:
Monday to Thursday: 12pm - 2.30pm & 5.30pm - 9pm
Friday: 12pm - 2.30pm & 5.30pm - 9.30pm
Saturday: 12.00pm - 9.30pm
Sunday: 12.00pm - 8.00pm
Wheelchair access is available into the bar area which has a disabled WC. Please note that all our accommodation is accessed via stairs and we don't have a lift. Well behaved dogs are permitted in the bar but not in the accommodation or dining room.

We are situated close to the Wirral Walk which is a twelve mile stretch of disused railway ideal for cyclists and walkers. Shorter walks can also be found nearby and we are convenient for visiting both Liverpool and Chester.
From M53: Exit the M53 at junction 3 and take the exit signposted Heswall & Arrowe Park Hospital. You need to stay in the left hand lane. After half a mile or so you will reach some traffic lights with the Arrowe Park Hotel on the right at these lights you need to turn left. After another half mile or so you will reach a roundabout where you need to take the second exit (turn right) signposted Heswall. This road will take you through the villages of Thingwall and Pensby and eventually to the main traffic lights in the centre of Heswall with the Natwest Bank on the left and the Lloyds bank opposite. Go straight over these lights and then first left, the Jug and Bottle is at the top of that road. Please park on the right hand car park, immediately behind The Jug (which is free). The left hand car park is a Council “Pay & Display” car park and is subject to the blight of Traffic Wardens.
From Chester/North Wales: Travelling along the Chester Highroad (A540) follow the signs for the Hoylake and Heswall. This road will bring you into the centre of Heswall. When you reach the lights with the Lloyds bank on your left and Natwest on your right you need to turn left. Then take the first turning left (Mount Aveneue) the Jug and Bottle is at the top of that road. Please park on the right hand car park,immediately behind The Jug (which is free). The left hand car park is a Council “Pay & Display” car park and is subject to the blight of Traffic Wardens.
From Liverpool: Take the Wallasey Tunnel out of Liverpool, which on the Wirral side turns into the M53 and head for exit 3 and then follow the directions above.
