Welcome to Brownber Hall near Newbiggin-on-Lune in Cumbria. Situated in peaceful grounds, our 19th century country house enjoys panoramic views over the open farmland towards the Howgill fells and North Pennines. Our quality guest accommodation is ideal for walkers exploring the surrounding area or couples/ families with older children looking to book a relaxing holiday or short break to the beautiful Eden Valley. Our Country House features in the Good Hotel Guide 2015 and we have also been awarded a 2015 'Certificate of Excellence' award.
We offer a choice of ten guest rooms all with ensuite facilities or a private bathroom. They are presented as single, double, twin or family rooms and many offer beautiful views over the surrounding countryside. Facilities in all of our guest rooms include a TV and tea/ coffee making facilities.
Breakfast is served between 8am and 9.30am each day and is created using local Cumbrian produce. Special diets and requests can be catered for by arrangement and we can also accommodate guests requiring an earlier breakfast with prior notice given.
We are licensed to sell alcohol and stock a range of bottle and canned beers, wines and soft drinks. These can be enjoyed in front of the log fire in the lounge or on the terrace which looks out over the beautiful surrounding countryside. Our country house is set in extensive gardens with off road parking provided. Free Wi-Fi service is available.
Solo guests are welcome and we offer single guest rooms and discounts for solo occupancy in our double/ twin guest rooms. We are dog friendly by prior arrangement. Children over twelve years old are accepted.
Plenty of walking routes run closeby including the two miles walk along the old railway line from Brownber to beautiful Smardale which is a internationally recognised nature reserve. It is also home to the UK's tallest viaduct, the 180 foot Smardale Viaduct. Other walks include over the Howgills, The Coast to Coast walk, Orton Scar, The Lake District and The Yorkshire Dales.
