Discover The Scarlet, Cornwall s Luxury Eco Hotel, an escape for grown-ups, to dream by the sea, to laugh and to enjoy simple pleasures.
We are an award winning 37 bedroom hotel for adults, built to the highest eco standards, boasting delicious locally sourced food and the best Ayurvedic inspired Spa you can imagine.
Situated in Mawgan Porth, Cornwall, The Scarlet embraces its stunning situation overlooking the North Cornish Coastline. Arranged over 5 levels, our elegant and modern bedrooms are all built to make the most of the dramatic view. Each room boasts its own individual outside space, ranging from private courtyards, garden terraces to balconies.
Our restaurant menus are bursting with flavour, changing daily to ensure that full use is made of what is at its local, seasonal best. Breakfast and lunch are relaxed and served in the restaurant or the terrace. For dinner we add a shot of glamour to both the menu and the atmosphere.
Our warm welcome comes from the heart of our team and our Spa restores well being and inner calm, where the ahhhh of a treatment lasts for days not hours. Treat yourself and take in the ocean view from our outdoor log fired hot tubs.
With facilities such as the Merlin Golf Club and Driving Range just 5-minute drive away, Newquay can be reached in 15 minutes by car and Padstow is within a 20-minute drive. The Scarlet provides a perfect setting in which to relax and unwind and a base to explore beautiful Cornwall.
There is a regular rail service from all parts of the country to Bodmin Parkway Station, which is only a 25 minute drive from the hotel. It is also possible to connect with trains for Newquay Station, which is closer to the hotel, but will require you to change train lines at Par. We are happy to arrange taxis to meet guests travelling by rail at their choice of station.
If you are travelling from London there are direct trains from London Paddington to Bodmin Parkway, even enabling you to leave direct from work (albeit a little early) to catch the 16.00hrs train and be with us for dinner overlooking the ocean. Or, why not try the overnight sleeper train, the Night Riviera It is comfortable and smooth the cabins are stylish and spacious with a wash basin, TV and freshly laundered sheets. Much less hassle, and far more enjoyable, than flying or driving: fall asleep in London and wake up to sunrise in Cornwall. Information about this service can be found on the Britain by Rail website and on Mark Smith s the Man in Seat Sixty-One.
From the North
The West Coast main line and Cross Country services provide a variety of direct and indirect train options, with at least 3 direct trains each day travelling the Edinburgh to Penzance route (which calls at main stations such as Newcastle, Durham, York, Leeds, Sheffield, Birmingham, Bristol, and Exeter) enabling you to alight and be collected at Bodmin Parkway.
The last direct train, which calls at the stations listed above and would ensure that you could enjoy dinner in our wonderful restaurant, departs Edinburgh just after 11.00hrs.
