Nestled at the foot of Skiddaw and just minutes from Bassenthwaite village, Keswick and Bassenthwaite Lake, Peter House Cottage is a beautiful beamed 17th Century barn conversion on a Lakeland Hill Farm with spectacular fell views. Tastefully furnished throughout, the cottage is a perfect base for families, couples or friends sharing or for small walking groups.
The Skiddaw range of mountains is just on your doorstep and a choice of walks are straight from your cottage door. Well behaved dogs are welcome to join you on your holiday and an outdoor seating area, a pretty shared garden and ample private parking are all available. Nearby Bassenthwaite village has a great pub and the many amenities of market towns Keswick and Cockermouth are a short drive away.
There is an outdoor seating area with a table and chairs directly adjacent to the cottage and across the yard there is a small enclosed garden area which is shared with our other two bedroom cottage – Pembroke Cottage.
Our beautiful cottage is situated in the heart of the Lake District National Park and boasts easy access to a number of flat level and mountain walks.
The summit of Skiddaw is located nearby and covers around 8 miles of high peak routes for the more experienced hikers whereas Bassenthwaite Lake has a number of flat level walk ways leading out to local villages and attractions.
There are also around 40 routes across the National Park with no stiles - suitable for those with wheelchairs, pushchairs of young children. We are the perfect walking base but are also located only a short drive from the famous market town of Keswick with its quirky and unique shops, fantastic restaurants and family attractions for all ages.
