Nestled between two of Britain’s most popular National Parks – The Lakes and The Dales, Ghyll Stile Mill Cottage is a beautifully presented 17th Century cottage accommodating up to five people.
Formerly part of an old tanning Mill complex, our detached stone cottage has retained period features, a cosy open fire and stunning surrounding views, providing true countryside living yet only a short drive from the M6.
The cottage is ideal for both families and couples and boasts extensive gardens with a number of little streams, open grassland areas and a BBQ patio area for guests to enjoy. There is plenty of room for off road parking outside the cottage.
The cottage enters into a small porch way – ideal for drying wet clothes, walking boots and wellies.
Featuring ceiling beams and a beautiful open fire for the winter, the lounge diner is a comfortable room with access to the garden via French doors. Entertainment facilities include a TV with DVD/ Video player, free Wi-Fi access and a radio. A hod of coal and logs are provided free of charge for the fire.
There is a small but very well equipped kitchen includes an electric cooker, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, kettle, toaster, coffee percolator and an automatic washing machine.
A freezer is housed in a separate outbuilding and the kitchen has a back door leading into the garden.
The two generously sized bedrooms are situated on the first floor and include a double room and a twin room. A z-bed is available for a 5th guest. Both rooms share access to a family bathroom with shower over bath.
The landing upstairs has access to a small veranda overlooking the fell side.
French doors lead from the lounge and kitchen out into the garden. Ghyll Stile Mill’s gardens are unique, extensive and perfect for children and pets to explore and play in with various pathways, open grassland, rivers, two duck ponds and a BBQ area.
Please take care of children in the garden as there are steep drops and open water in places.
A starter box of groceries, home-made bread and local free range eggs can be provided for your stay.

Ghyll Stile Mill is located between two of the most stunning national parks in Britain – The Lake District National Park and the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Both have very different landscapes and attractions and can be explored by foot, bike, car, train or even boat.

Short breaks are available during the low season and all short breaks are only available last minute in the high season.
Check in is from 3 30pm and the cottage must be vacated by 10am on the day of departure. Changeover day for weekly bookings is Saturday.
Take Junction 37 of the M6 Motorway, turn east heading along A684 towards Sedbergh. After exactly 1.8 miles from junction 37 turn left (at the 1st house on the left after the motorway junction) and pass between the house and a barn. Travel 100 metres down into a little sheltered valley. Ghyll Stile Mill Cottage is the first of the two cottages.
