About this Holiday Cottage

Dating back to the 17th Century, Tom’s Cottage is a traditional ivy-covered holiday cottage just north of Dalton-in-Furness near Ulverston, surrounded by countryside and farmland.

Our spacious property is bright and airy, with views across Burlington Trout Lake and the Southern Lake District Fells.  Furnished to a high standard it has original period features throughout.  Only four miles from the ancient market town of Ulverston and with easy access to the nearby Lake District National Park, the cottage is the perfect base for a holiday or short break at any time of the year.

Self-contained Tom's Cottage is attached to Park Cottage and includes private parking for two cars in an onsite car park.

Please note that we only accept one child over 8 years.

Around and About

We are based in a very rural location, surrounded by countryside yet only 1 1/2 miles north of the ancient town of Dalton-in-Furness where you'll find several fine inns and excellent restaurants, a large supermarket, banks, a post office and take-away food services.

Ulverston with its year round festivals, markets, the famous Laurel and Hardy Museum and independent shops is only 4 miles from the cottage.  A car is essential and highly recommended for exploring the area.

The cottage overlooks Burlington Trout Lake and there are ample footpaths direct from your door into the expanses of rolling countryside. For the adventurous, The Lake District National Park and its many famous villages, lakes and mountain ranges are within a 45 minute drive of the cottage.

Attractions within a 10 mile radius include the Lakeland Motor Museum and South Lakeland Wild Animal Park, Furness Abbey ruins, Walney Island Nature Reserve and Gleastone Watermill.  Lakeside's selection of attractions on the southern shores of Lake Windermere are easily accessed including boat trips and the steam railway.
