An idyllic Lake District retreat in beautiful Grasmere, Glenthorne is a Quaker property providing B&B or dinner B&B accommodation for a wide range of guests, not just Quakers, including those who require a particularly restful break in a calming environment due to age, disability or ill health. We are also ideally situated for walkers and cater for numerous Rambling groups.
We offer a total of twenty-six well appointed bedrooms, including a number of family rooms for guests travelling with children. Some rooms are on the ground floor and many have views of the beautiful surrounding fells. They all have tea trays and Wi-Fi is accessible in most of the property.
Meals served in our bright dining room include cooked breakfasts and evening meals; we cater for vegetarians and special diets. Packed lunches are available, flasks are filled free of charge.
We also have a sunny garden room and a comfortable guest lounge, as well as meeting and conference facilities with a hearing loop system and space for up to forty-five people.
Spacious car parking facilities are available within our B&B grounds.
We run a Special Interest Programme including yoga and relaxation breaks, crafting stays and outdoor activities. We provide respite holidays for refugees and asylum seekers, who benefit from the calming atmosphere in the shadows of the Lakeland hills. Bursary assistance is available for those that have financial hardship.
We are just a short stroll from the centre of Grasmere, on the road to Easdale Tarn so we are ideally placed for both energetic walkers taking the coast to coast challenge or for ramblers taking in all the fabulous scenery and delights that this part of the Lake-District has to offer.
