A beautiful contemporary boutique B&B in the heart of the Lake District, Claremont House B&B in Ambleside sits a mere 10 minute stroll from the northern shores of Lake Windermere. Ambleside town centre restaurants, cafes, traditional inns, independent shops and The Armitt Library & Museum are under a minutes' walk away and a choice of walking and cycling routes are direct from our B&B door. Our five beautifully appointed bedrooms are en-suite. We're just a stone's throw from the two historic Wordsworth cottages and just a short walk from boat trips on Lake Windermere from Waterhead Pier. Approaching Ambleside, from either North or South, follow the one way system and the signs to the town centre, when you see St. Mary's Church on your left, keep in the left hand lane, this is Compston Road - we are half way up on the left hand side at present we are pale blue! From the south, leave M6 jct36, Kendal and the South Lakes onto the A590/A591. Follow signs for Kendal then Windermere the A590 becomes the A591 just before bypassing Kendal. Ambleside is 4 miles past Winderemere on the same road. From the north, leave M6 at Jct 40 then follow the A66 to Keswick. At Keswick join the A591 via Grasmere to Ambleside.
