This family-run Ambleside bed and breakfast was built around 1890 and is very well located for walkers, mountain bikers and golfers visiting the Lake District. Ambleside is an ideal Lake District holiday location, former home to Wordsworth, Rankin & Beatrix Potter. Brathay Lodge is situated in central Ambleside and is within easy reach of a number of restaurants and pubs. Our guests have the benefit of a private off road parking where they can leave their vehicle before exploring Ambleside and the local areas.
We have 20 rooms available all with king size beds; these are made up of doubles (pet friendly), twins, and triples, family rooms (sleeps 3-5) and four poster suites. All rooms are en-suite with tea & coffee making facilities and colour t.V's. A variety of family rooms have a king size and two single beds with ¾ partition wall with external balcony access. The Four Poster suites overlook the front with wonderful Lakeland views Wansfell and Loughrigg. Rooms at Brathay Lodge are spread over 4 floors, with access using stairs. Some rooms have Lakeland views and balconies. Fair trade tea and coffee with biscuits are available in the rooms whilst all bathrooms have luxurious spa baths with showers over. A continental buffet breakfast is served each morning in the warmly decorated dining room.
We are situated ten minutes from Lake Windermere, with gift shops, attractive walks, lake cruises and active water sports. Around Ambleside there are numerous local scenic walks and places to visit: The houses of Wordsworth, Beatrix Potter and John Ruskin, The Grizedale Forest, Numerous National Trust properties including Castlerigg Stone circle and Rheged visitor centre to mention just a few.

Leave the M6 at Junction 36 and take the A591 to Windermere and on to Ambleside. Follow the signs to the town centre and you will join the one way system. The Brathay Lodge is on the right, directly opposite "White Platts Park" and the tennis courts
