About these Holiday Cottages

Here at Bank Ground Farm, we're proud to offer a selection of beautiful holiday cottages with plenty of character and with far-reaching views over Coniston Water. At the side of the lake, our properties are beautiful self-catering holiday homes on our sixty-acre working farm surrounded by hills and fields, with cattle and sheep on site.

Our farm was the setting of Holly Howe, the home of the Walker children in Arthur Ransome's much-loved novel Swallows & Amazons. It was also used extensively in the 1974 film version of this wonderful children's tale. Now, we offer six cottages in total, two of which sleep four. They're Beckfoot Cottage and Wynmoor Cottage, both homely and well-furnished for a great self-catering stay.

Beckfoot Cottage has one double bedroom and one twin bedroom, with a bathroom including an over-bath shower. The kitchen's equipped with all the essentials, and a few luxuries, and the elegant living room includes a dining area, an open log fire and beautiful patio doors offering breathtaking views of the lake.

Wynmoor Cottage is a very simlar property, with full-length windows, patio doors and similar kitchen appliances including a microwave, fridge, freezer and cooker. Bank Ground Farm also offers ample parking facilities for all guests, and you can book your visit by phoning today.

Tea Room and Restaurant

Within the grounds of Bank Ground Farm, we have a tea room and restaurant that you're very welcome to visit. On days when you'd prefer not to cook, why not head down for a homemade cake, a hot or cold meal, or a cup of your favourite hot beverage? We use locally sourced ingredients wherever possible, and we're licensed to sell Lake District ales and a wide selection of wines.

Our restaurant is open on Fridays and Saturdays serving delicious three-course meals. Alternativley you can buy fresh local produce from our farm shop including farm reared meat, homemade bread, jams and chutneys, cakes etc

Got a boat or a dog?

We have mooring facilities if guests wish to bring their own boats by arrangement. Maximum size of 26'.

For dog lovers we have a fantastic, modern kennel facility which is as comfortable as they could possibly wish for (including air conditioning and exercise area). Lots of nearby walks along the lakes and fells.
