Situated in the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors near Pickering, The Hayloft at Flamborough Rigg is an award winning two bedroom cottage ideal for family breaks or romantic weekends away: Nestling on the edge of Cropton Forest it is perfect for relaxing walks or cycle rides. The wonderful beaches of the Yorkshire coast are just a short drive away. Guests will find the cottage superbly equipped for their self-catering stay with a locally sourced food hamper, a wood burning stove and Wi-Fi. The accommodation is luxuriously appointed and this is reflected in the Gold Award and five stars awarded by Visit Britain. The Hayloft is dog friendly by prior arrangement and has a large fully enclosed garden.
All the rooms offer scenic views over Cropton Forest, the gardens towards the Roman Road and Newtondale. On the first floor the dual aspect lounge has comfy sofas, a log burning stove, TV, DVD player, digital radio with iPod dock, plenty of books and magazines. The large kitchen/ diner with reclaimed wooden flooring, breakfast bar, farmhouse table and chairs plus appliances including a dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and fridge/ freezer.
The double bedroom with en-suite shower, under floor heating, heated towel rail is on the ground floor and has direct access into the garden. The twin room has charming antique furniture, wooden flooring and cream painted beds. This room is ideal for both adults and children and enjoys access to an adjacent bathroom with double ended bath, shower and under floor heating.
There is a large fully enclosed private garden with sun terrace and barbeque.
A homemade meal can be provided for your arrival at an extra charge. Choose from a delicious Fish Pie, Lasagne, Chicken Curry and Beef Casserole - please contact us for further details. A hamper of locally sourced and homemade breakfast goodies is included for stays of one week or more.
Families are very welcome and we also accept up to two well behaved dogs.

There is a wide range of walks right from the door for you to enjoy. We think this area is one of the most beautiful in Britain. Whether you just want to relax in the garden and enjoy the view across the forest or walk through Newtondale to Levisham there is plenty to do without venturing far. A scenic drive on the Moors brings you to the wonderful beach at Sandsend and Whitby; the ruins of Rievaulx Abbey, the attractions of York and Castle Howard are also nearby.
On arrival in Pickering follow the A170 to the traffic lights signposted to the Steam Railway, Newton upon Rawcliffe and Stape. If Coming from Scarborough,York and Whitby turn right at the traffic lights. If Coming from Thirsk and Helmsley turn left. After passing the Steam Railway station you will cross the level crossing at Newbridge following the road up a hill then across gently rolling hills for 4 miles or so before arriving in Newton upon Rawcliffe. Follow the road through Newton, past the White Swan pub and after half a mile go past the turn off for Cropton following the sign for Stape. Go through Stape and turn left into Middlehead Road which is approximately 500 yards past the red telephone box. A few hundred yards along Middlehead Road the road forks. Take the left fork. Flamborough Rigg Cottage is the 4th property on the left roughly ½ mile down the road. The Hayloft is at Flamborough Rigg Cottage.
