Coming from the south- leave M6 at junction 36 - Kendal South Lakes. Travel along A590 which joins A591. Do not leave this dual carriageway. Ingnore signs to Kendal but at large roundabout take first exit signed Hawkshead via ferry - B5284. Squirrel Bank Cottage is 6 miles on past Crook, and Windermere Golf Club. It is situated on left. If you reach the junction you have gone past. Coming from north - Make your way to the village of Bowness on Windermere, when you reach lake windermere travel along road until you see signs to car ferry , just beyond that is a left fork signed Kendal.
