Sitting on the edge of the Yorkshire Moors National Park, and yet is only six miles from the coast, our delightful inn, restaurant and function suites offer you award winning accommodation and a wonderful dining experience in a charming and historical setting. This former farmhouse is part of the Dawnay Estates which was originally founded in 1656.
We have 10 beautifully appointed en-suite bedrooms, each with individual features such as low beams or elegant Georgian windows but all of them offering the same level of comfort and a charming, indulgent place to relax and enjoy. You can choose from standard rooms with Flat screen Freeview TV, hospitality tray and free wi-fi or the superior rooms which are larger and in addition to the usual facilities also have king size beds, a hair dryer and bath robes.

We have some excellent local suppliers of fresh produce from which our chef creates your hearty Yorkshire breakfast or whatever alternatives you prefer.
There are soft seating areas near the restaurant where you can relax with a coffee or enjoy one of our cask ales or a glass of quality wine in Tuckers Bar.
The Park Room Suite and King Jewel Suite can cater for 110 and 150 respectively whilst the Dawnay Room is ideal for a meeting for up to 8 people.
We have a very experienced Wedding Team to help and support the happy couple achieve their dream wedding and we are fully licensed to conduct civil cermonies and partnerships. The King Jewel Suite is a beautiful, sunny room with five French windows leading to the garden where our wedding gazebo and arbour seat are just waiting for your photographer to capture the moments.
We have several offers during the year including a 3 night for 2 special from only £172 per couple. For romantic breaks you may want to arrange a late check out after breakfast in bed.
We ask guests to check in from 14:00. and you need to check out by 10:00.
We are in a perfect location whether you fancy walking the Cleveland Way along the rugged North Yorkshire coastline, visiting one of our wonderful heritage sites, golfing on a championship golf course, or riding the steam train from Pickering into Heartbeat country.
The Downe Arms Hotel is in the village of Wykeham, situated in North Yorkshire and it actually sits on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors along the A170 which is the main road into Scarborough from Pickering.
From the South or North take the A1 to Junction 49. At the junction take the A168 towards Thirsk. Then the A170 towards Scarborough. The village of Wykeham is on the A170 six miles from Scarborough.
From York or Leeds by rail There are direct trains from York and Leeds to Scarborough.
From Scarborough or Seamer you can take a taxi ( under £15 ) or by pre-arrangement we can pick you up.
