Coul House Hotel is a beautiful country house nestled in the hills of the Northern highlands of Scotland. The hotel itself – which stands in the quaint village of Contin -has great historical and architectural significance dating back to 1821. Based amongst secluded lochs and the Achilty forest, the surrounding area offers miles of bike and walking trails and an abundance of wildlife. In the summer months you can watch salmon leaping up the nearby Rogie waterfall. Coul House Hotel consists of 21 rooms is the perfect place for a family or couples getaway, offering a relaxing atmosphere and fantastic hospitality.
We offer a brilliant choice of rooms to suit your requirements, all of our rooms come with en suite bathrooms, television and tea and coffee making facilities. The hotel consists of eighteen twin/double rooms which are split into small or large doubles and there is also a small four poster bedded suite. The other three rooms are singles. We also offer a choice of views over either Strathconon and the nearby mountain ranges or the rear gardens and the acres of surrounding woodland. Four of the rooms are situated on the ground floor and the other seventeen are on the first floor up two sets of stairs. All of the rooms and en suites are different shapes and sizes making each one unique.
Coul House Hotel specialises in intimate weddings and can accommodate up to 80 people during the day and 140 in total in the evening. We also give you a choice of two grand rooms in which to hold your special occasion. If you are planning a meeting or conference, we can accommodate for up to 80 people. Our two main meeting rooms can be laid out to your requirements and offer efficient and memorable services in a peaceful environment. Well behaved dogs are allowed at a small additional cost in guest rooms and throughout public rooms in the hotel, expect the restaurant.
Try a unique dining experience and Scottish cuisine from both local and international produce in our restaurant. Our food is cooked using traditional highland methods and our seasonal a le carte menu offers different delicious dishes all year round. We can cater for any special dietary requirements on request so please do not hesitate to ask. We also have our own nine-hole pitch and putt and a small play area hidden away in the trees for children and a large terrace just off our lounge bar with great views of the surrounding scenery.
From Inverness follow the A9 north over Kessock Bridge, once at the Tore roundabout take a second left (following signs to Dingwall and Ullapool A835) at the next roundabout continue to follow signs to Ullapool, taking the second exit to stay on the A835. About 6 miles on is the village of Contin and the entrance to our driveway is the third right, about 200 yards after the petrol station. We are also accessible via air, train and bus with regular local transport to bring you into Contin village.
