About this Bed and Breakfast

This family run bed and breakfast is located in the foothills of the Cairgorm Mountains in Braemar, Aberdeenshire. When visiting us guests can take advantage of our ideal location and setting; from the house you can appreciate the breathtaking views of the Highlands and enjoy the old silver birch and wildlife surrounding the house and in the gardens.

Bedrooms / Bathrooms

When staying at Schiehallion Guest House you will find our rooms to be very comfortable and newly decorated. All are en suite, apart from one of our twin rooms which is adjacent to a bathroom with shower. Feel right at home with our hospitality trays provided in every room as well as magazines, and packs with information on local attractions.

Our front bedrooms face east and catch the early morning sunshine with our rear bedrooms offering lovely views over the Grampian Mountains.

Our west-facing bedrooms also enjoy mountain views and benefit from the sun during the afternoon and into the evening.

Each day begins with a Full Scottish Breakfast in the dining room which includes starters of a selection of cereals and porridge, fruit, and yoghurt followed by bacon, sausage, mushrooms, tomatoes, beans, poached or scrambled eggs, toast, jams, marmalade, and honey. Vegetarian breakfasts can be arranged.

Other Facilities

After a day exploring the local countryside, you can retreat to the house’s large comfortable lounge and relax in front of the log fire with a book, a game from our selection or watch the television.

Single occupancy stays are welcome and all our rates include our delicious breakfast. Dogs are welcome at an additional charge of £5.

Around and About

We are set just up the road from Glenshee, the largest ski centre in Scotland and other outdoor activities to enjoy nearby include walking and cycling in the Cairngorms National Park. Braemar also plays host to the most famous Highland Games of all - The Braemar Gathering - which is held the first Saturday in September each year.

From Aberdeen follow the A93 through Peterculter, Banchory, Aboyne and Ballater. It is a straight road with good signage. Schiehallion Guest House is on the left ahnd side of the Invercauld road just before you leave the village to climb the hill to Glenshee Ski Center. If in doubt follow the signs to the Youth Hostel, all call us on 013397 416 79 and we will talk you in!
