Welcome to Claxton Hall, our 19th Century cottage overlooking the stunning open countryside of the Vale of York. We provide the ideal base for exploring the popular tourist destination of York, set in 3 acres of grounds and reached by a private country lane just 10 minutes drive from the city centre. Tea and cake is served on arrival, and your hosts are always on hand to ensure your stay is as carefree as possible.
We have a range of different bedrooms at Claxton Hall Cottage, all of which have an en-suite bathroom. Choose from a four poster room, twin room or a standard double bedroom.
All of the bedrooms have great facilities including a television, radio alarm, hairdryer and tea and coffee making facilities, with fresh milk also available. An iron and ironing board can also be provided, should guests request them.
A full English breakfast is served in our traditional wooden beamed dining room, however the lighter alternative of a continental breakfast is also available. We can cater for vegetarians and and other special diets.

The historic city of York is a popular destination for holidaymakers all year round, with its quaint high street and diverse range of shops, restaurants and pubs.
Attractions that guests may like to visit include The Elvington Air Museum, York Racecourse, The National Railway Museum, York Minster, the dungeons, and Yorkshire Air Museum, as well as various sightseeing and ghost tours of the city.
From the South M1/A1: Take the A64 towards York. Stay on the A64 which runs around York to the south of the city and take the Malton/Scarborough section of the A64 at the large roundabout north east of York. Take the second exit off this roundabout and stay on this section of the A64 for 4 miles and you will pass the Tanglewood Pub on the left. Stay on the A64 a mile after the Tanglewood and you will see our Guest House sign on the left. Take the private lane next to our sign and we are the first property you come to on the left.
From the North: You can either stay on the A1 and follow the directions as above, or you can take the A59 from the A1 until you come onto the York outer ring road, the A1237. Turn left onto the A1237 and stay on this road for 8 roundabouts. Take a left at the 8th roundabout following the signs for Malton/Scarborough. At the next roundabout you join the A64 and take the first exit left again following the Malton/Scarborough sign. Stay on this section of the A64 for 4 miles and you will pass Merlin's on the left.
Stay on the A64 a mile after the Tanglewood and you will see our B&B sign on the left. Take the private lane next to our sign and we are the first property you come to on the left.
