Welcome to Bobbin Mill Holiday Cottage near Hawkshead. Set in a beautiful rural valley, this fascinating period property is less than one mile from the amenities of the village and within easy reach of Lake Windermere and Grizedale Forest.
Perfect for couples or a family with older children, the cottage retains it's large waterwheel and boasts a large, wild garden with stream, slate bridges, swing, woodland and picnic areas.
Inside, the cottage boasts wood floors, open fires, exposed beams and a steep staircase which are all in-keeping with the age of the property.
The cottage is tucked away in a hidden valley and accessed via a large oak door which leads into the hallway. The large living/ dining room has a variety of seating and original features, plenty of books and games, a large table, a CD player and phone for incoming or local calls. The large kitchen is fitted with an electric cooker, fridge/ freezer and microwave. Water is taken from a local source which is then filtered and can be pumped from the well in the kitchen wall. Heating for the cottage is provided by night storage heaters and an open fire.
Up the steep slate staircase can be found the first of two bedrooms which has a double bed, two single beds and usable fireplace. A second flight of wooden stairs takes you to the bathroom with cast iron bath and WC and the double bedroom is accessed via another step.
The property is heritage site which would only be suitable for older children who would need to be supervised when in the garden. Please note that there is no TV or WiFi service at the property. Towels can be hired and linen is provided. All electricity and fuel charges are included.
Short breaks can be taken during off peak times and we also accept pets by prior arrangement at an extra charge.
