About this Holiday Cottage

Yellow Gates is a terraced cottage situated in the hamlet of Carsethorn, six miles from the village of New Abbey in Dumfries. This cottage sleeps four people in two bedrooms, consisting of one ground floor double and one zip/link twin, as well as a shower room. The cottage also has a kitchen with dining area and a sitting room with open fire. Outside there is off road parking for one car, a shared front garden and a private, enclosed rear lawned garden with patio and furniture. With river views, Yellow Gates is a lovely base for a holiday in the area.

Two bedrooms: 1 x ground floor king-size double, 1 x family room with one double and one single. Shower room with shower, basin and WC. Kitchen with dining area. Sitting room with open fire.

Lockable bike storage in garage opposite property. Shared, front lawned garden with enclosed rear lawned garden with patio and furniture. Two well-behaved dogs welcome. Sorry, no smoking. Shop 6 miles, pub 1 min walk. Beach 1 min walk. Note: Sloping ceiling in twin bedroom. Note: Steep, narrow stairs in property, may be unsuitable for those with limited mobility. Note: Max. 4 people.

Around and About

The village of New Abbey is dominated by the peak of Criffel, which offers walking and wonderful views of south western Scotland and the Lake District. The village offers a watermill, a shop, a coffee shop, two hotels, plus the River Nith runs nearby. The market town of Dumfries is within driving distance and has bars, restaurants, cafes and museums.

From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain’s best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.
