Converted to a high standard, the 17th century Thatched Barn is a stunning holiday property in the picturesque village of Smarden. Once home to a thriving wool industry, the village is now part of the sleepy backwater of old English. In fact it's so quintessentially Kentish that it's often featured in films. There are opportunities for walking, cycling and golf in the nearby area, while fishing is by arrangement.
The cottage has easy access to Canterbury and Ashford where you can take the Eurotunnel and enjoy lunch or dinner in Paris or Brussels.
Stepping in to the property you'll be greeted by an entrance hall with vaulted ceiling and stone floor. From here is an open plan living and dining room with sofas, TV, and dining table. From here is access to the kitchen and breakfast room. It comes fully equipped with a gas range cooker, microwave, dishwasher and washer/dryer.
Upstairs is a games room with sofa bed.
On the first floor is a partially vaulted master bedroom with a four-poster bed and en-suite bathroom, an additional day bed for one can also be provided. There's also an en-suite double, a double bedroom with zip and link bed, and a twin bedroom. The family bathroom features a bath with showever over.
Enclosed garden with furniture and barbecue is provided.
Parking for up to four cars is available.
Free Wi-Fi is provided.
