About this Cottage

The Ferryman’s Cottage offers a superb rural setting for those wishing to enjoy the tranquillity of the countryside, yet be within easy reach of a wide range of fun days out for all the family. Indeed the property itself has much to offer the family, with facilities for snooker and darts, as well as a variety of board games in the adjoining garage. Detached, it is located on the banks of the River Severn and Uckinghall Pool, and is fronted by the vast Uckinghall Meadow – an area designated a Special Wildlife Site on account of its natural beauty. Private fishing and mooring is available along a 1½-mile stretch of river, by arrangement with the owner.
Available locally are a wide range of leisure pursuits – choose from walking, swimming, theatres, cinema, restaurants, cricket, horse racing and golf. For interesting days out visit the elegant spa town of Cheltenham, with its majestic shopping promenade, pump rooms, galleries and museums, or head for the historical cathedral cities of Hereford and Worcester. Stratford-upon-Avon, one of England’s best known towns, makes a delightful day trip. The birthplace of Shakespeare, Stratford is full of interesting places to visit, including the Royal Shakespeare Company Gallery, the World of Shakespeare and the National Teddy Bear Museum, which will appeal to all ages. Gloucester is home to one of the finest cathedrals in the world, as well as the interesting City Museum and the National Waterways Museum. Malvern and Upton-upon-Severn are also well worth a visit, host to the Malvern Theatre Festival and the International Jazz Festival respectively, while the Brecon Beacons, the Wye Valley and the Cotswolds are within easy reach.
